Our canoeing taster days on the River Derwent at Darley Abbey near Derby are great for people or groups looking for a fun day out whilst under the supervision of qualified instructors.
Our facilities also include male and female toilets,changing rooms with showers.
Our instructors will equip you with safety equipment such as buoyancy aid and paddle. After a safety talk you will soon be on the water, practicing paddling in a straight line, turning and stopping. After a short practice your guide will then lead you down stream. Along the way he will teach you further skills, which will be handy for the games you will be playing!
Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience, our instructional staff will be able to help you improve your skills and knowledge of paddling.
Our instructors will introduce you to the the art of paddling, covering the BCU star awards. Skills covered include forward and reverse paddling, moving the boat side ways, ruddering, turning as well as getting in and out of the boat.
